Mike's Mockerkin Ride 2025
The sun tried to keep peeking through for us & it stayed dry so hopefully you got to enjoy some of the views of the Loweswater valley. Perhaps you even spotted Sean the sheep at Hudson place or the Wishing Tree in Holme Wood.
It was great to see so many new faces as well as some regular ones. We hope you all enjoyed your day
A huge thank you to our organiser Penny & her army of helpers; Ray, Kaye, Pat, Tony, Emma, Jo & family, Ella, Mairi, Jean & Sheila
You can view some of the photos that our helpers took on the day HERE
In Memory of Ann Alridge
A much-loved and long-standing member of Cumbria. Ann was a true inspiration, riding well into her 80s — something many of us can only hope to achieve.
She was a passionate horsewoman who loved the sport deeply and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
There are countless fond memories of Ann, from her trusty chair mounting block to the many pearls of wisdom she generously shared over the years. Her dedication, spirit, and kindness will be greatly missed by our community.
Ride free, Ann — you will always be remembered.
Winter Challenges
Short days and usually damp weather makes Winter drag on for many of us equestrians. To help us through the winter we have set up a couple of challenges for our members. The Winter Versatility Challenge allows our members who like to give a few different things a go a chance to show us what they get up to over the winter. From Agility to Arena Eventing everything counts! This award is for the most versatile horse/pony....
The Winter Hacker simply means recording the mileage that you are covering with your 4 legged friend over the winter months
In Memory of Mike Jordan
With kind permission of Lowther Estates & under the guidance from Jamie at Wildroof Landscapes, we have planted 3 Rowan trees at the site of CP1 on the Cumbria Challenge ride. The plaque text reads "In memory of Mike Jordan. A friend to many and sadly missed"
In years to come these trees will grow and eventually provide some welcome shade to the horses and riders as they pass through CP1, as well as for walkers and visitors to the area, a little
acknowledgement to the comfort many riders felt when they saw Mike & Barbara in this spot as they headed for home.
Thank you to everyone who kindly donated to the memorial fund which we used to be able to place this fitting tribute for Mike.
